Press Release: The Spice Girls at Sheffield Showcase

Wannabe at one of Sheffield's hottest exhibitions this month? Then head straight for the Spice Girls display at Sheffield Showcase!

Geri Halliwell’s outfit, Mel B’s leopard print two piece, gold discs and memorabilia from all over the world will be among just some of the memorabilia on display.

The items have been collected by Sheffield music fan Liz West, who says she is one of the biggest Spice Girls collectors in the world pursuing key one offs and rarities marking the band’s illustrious career. She is currently perusing a Guinness World Record attempt for the Largest Collection of Spice Girls Memorabilia in the World!

"I was 11 when I first heard them on the radio. I remember being transfixed by their energy - from then on, I was hooked. I’ve collected anything and everything to do with the band ever since, much to the amusement of all my friends and family!” said Liz, 25.

"Displaying part of my collection at Sheffield Showcase is a fantastic opportunity, it allows fans to see memorabilia that would otherwise be packed away!”

Sheffield Showcase is an outdoor gallery presenting talented up and coming Sheffield retail students from The Source with the chance to develop their skills within a genuine retail environment. Students from The Source will curate each window space using their visual merchandising training.

Tutor and Visual Merchandiser, David Webber said: "The Spice Girls have had a huge impact across the world and I'm sure there are many Sheffield residents with at least one Spice Girls CD in their music collection!"

"I encourage all Sheffield fans of the band to come and see the window display presented by Sheffield Showcase in collaboration with Sheffield City Council.”

The display will push boundaries showing one-off memorabilia never-seen-before in Sheffield and be one of a wide variety of displays lined up for 2010 by the visual merchandising students at The Source.

The Spice Girls window is on display from now until the end of May. Please visit www.spicegirlscollection.co.uk for more details.
